The Payment History Profile is a 24-character string showing how the account was paid over the 24 reporting periods before the current one. Each character is one month. The bureaus use it to build the month-by-month payment grid on a credit report.
How to read it
Read left to right, newest to oldest. The first character is last month, not the current month. This month’s condition goes in Account Status.
Each new month, last month’s Account Status becomes the first character and everything shifts one place to the right.
A “month” is your reporting period. If you report on the 15th, each character covers the 16th of one month through the 15th of the next.
Fewer than 24 months of history? Fill the remaining positions on the right with B.
